Photographs distributed by World Wide Photos and Associated Press of events surrounding the 76-day-long strike by UAW (CIO) Local 248 at the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company in West Allis, Wisconsin. Included are images of picketers shouting at workers entering the plant; production operations at the plant during and after the strike; police actions against striking workers; and individuals involved in settling the strike including Max Babb, Allis-Chalmers President, William H. Davis, Chairman of the Mediation panel, and Harold Christoffel, President of the local 248. The strike aroused national interest because of its impact of national defense contracts.
